BCDA, Red Cross build COVID-19 testing facility in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga (PIA) — Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has teamed up with Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in building a Molecular Laboratory within the Clark Civil Aviation Complex.

“The facility is part of the national government’s strategy to ramp up the testing for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19),” BCDA President and CEO Vince Dizon said.

It is being built in partnership with Clark Development Corporation and Clark International Airport Corporation.

Construction of the PRC Molecular Laboratory will be completed on Wednesday, April 29.

“The laboratory will have three polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines, capable of conducting up to 1,500 tests per day, once fully operational,” Dizon disclosed.

This project is in addition to the conversion of facilities within Clark into We Heal As One Centers meant to isolate COVID-positive patients, reduce community spread and decongest hospitals.

These include the ASEAN Convention Center (150 beds) and New Clark City National Government Administrative Center (688 beds but can expand up to 1,000) and Athletes’ Village (525 rooms).
