Beauty x brains beam at the MNK 2024 sashing ceremony

The ceremonial sashing and press presentation of the 22 candidates for Mutya Ning Kapampangan (MNK) 2024 showcased the grace, elegance, and cultural pride of the Kapampangan heritage.

The official candidates, all adorned in shades of pink, included:

• Arayat – Aviegale M. Castillo
• Bacolor – Crishna Aeshie Guevara
• Candaba – Pricess Margaux Grupo
• Floridablanca – Irish Joy Estrada
• Guagua – Anais Gwenaelle O. Tuazon
• Lubao – Lubinie Heart S. Motas
• Mabalacat City – Natalya Margaret A. Lindsay
• Macabebe – Edralyn Shane Y. Santos (excused from attendance due to her nursing board exam review)
• Magalang – Keisha Francine L. Mangaliman
• Masantol – Ronalyn S. Alfonso
• Mexico – Janine L. Cunanan
• Minalin – Zainab Chanela G. Shittu
• Porac – Ana Clarisse L. Garcia
• City of San Fernando – Rose Marie J. Medina
• San Luis – Eloisa Viany M. Diaz

Held on November 6, 2024, at the Kingsborough Convention Center in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, each candidate embodied Kapampangan beauty, intelligence, and pride, bringing depth and diversity to this year’s pageant.

“These exceptional young women have each embraced a noble mission, to highlight the rich cultural heritage and vibrant spirit of the Kapampangan people,” wrote Chairperson Atty. Ananias “Jun” L. Canlas, Pampanga 3rd District board member and Nanay Party List nominee in the invitation.

“As each sash was draped across their shoulders, it served as a reminder of their potential to inspire and represent our province. Wear your sash with humility, grace and responsibility,” remarked 2nd district board member Fritzie David-Dizon in her opening message.

Liga ng Barangay federation president / board member Atty. Claire Lim, and Clark Development Corp. director / MNK 2024 consultant Nicolette Henson also graced the event as presenters.

Organized by the Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office of Pampanga (ACTOP) under the leadership of Mike Castañeda, this celebrated event symbolized each candidate’s commitment to representing their hometowns and preserving the province’s rich traditions.

The Sashing Ceremony and Press Presentation were part of a series of events celebrating Kapampangan identity and culture. The Pre-pageant, where candidates will showcase their talents, is scheduled for November 27. With support from city and municipal tourism officers, local designers, hair and makeup artists, and cultural advocates, the event highlighted each candidate’s unique presence, building anticipation for the upcoming Coronation Night on December 10 at the Gov. Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

The grand winner of MNK 2024 will not only earn the coveted title but will also receive a substantial prize packages, sponsorships, and opportunities for professional growth. Additionally, she will have the honor of representing Pampanga in prestigious national pageants, bringing Kapampangan heritage and beauty to a broader stage.

“This journey is about fostering pride in our roots and sharing the Kapampangan legacy with a broader audience,” said Castañeda.

With the dedication of the candidates and the collaborative spirit of everyone involved, MNK 2024 promises to be a vibrant celebration of beauty, intelligence, and an enduring commitment to heritage.

Last year’s runners-up were Joanne Thornley, Angeles City, 1st Runner-up; Gabrielle Galapia, Magalang, 2nd Runner-up; Sophia Bianca, Lubao, 3rd Runner-up; and Stacey David, Mabalacat City, 4th Runner-up.
