BFAR trains Olongapo fisherfolk in making Spanish style galunggong

IBA, Zambales (PIA) — About 40 fisherfolk in Olongapo City were trained by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in making Spanish style galunggong.

Attendees included members of the Bankero and Fishermen Association as well as other groups.

BFAR Provincial Fisheries Officer Neil Encinaries said the activity is in partnership with the Fish Right Program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

“It aims to add value to caught fish while promoting sustainable fishing practices and economic empowerment among coastal communities,” he added.

The training included hands-on exercises wherein beneficiaries gained skills to improve product quality and create economic opportunities in their community.
