BoC holds 3-day strategic planning seminar

CLARK FREEPORT — Executives and key officers of the Bureau of Customs participated in a three-day strategic planning workshop aimed at providing higher quality services to its stakeholders.

The planning worshop was held at the Lewis Grand Hotel along Clark Perimeter Road. 

Rommel Isip, acting head of the BoC Port of Clark Administrative Section, said the BoC aims to share the its best practices and integrate it with the 10-point priority programs of Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero. 

“The activity is part of a series of strategy formulation in its bid to improve the services of the bureau,” said Isip over the phone. Among the participants in the cascading sessions were the Customs Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, Service Directors, District Collectors and other key officers.  Speakers during the event are from the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) headed by Executive Director Chris P. Zaens. 

Participants were given the opportunity to share key result areas and incorporate it with the bureau services. Some factors, deemed necessary in their respective roadmaps,  will be submitted as pre-requisite of their Office Performance, Commitment and Review (OPCR). 

In his speech, Guerrero said the activity is part of the BOC’s efforts to institutionalize good governance in the Bureau following the Performance Governance System (PGS) of ISA.

“With the new roadmaps, the BOC will be better equipped in pursuing its annual target and elevate the Bureau into a transparent, responsive and world-class Customs administration,” Guerrero told his audience.Participants were divided into eight groups.

Each group, including the District Collectors, presented their respective roadmaps to BoC commissioner. The roadmaps will form part of the implementing OPCRs.
