
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported seizing ₱2.390 billion worth of smuggled goods in July and August 2025 under Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno’s leadership. Acting on President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive, the agency launched 128 operations that intercepted illegal drugs, illicit cigarettes, and agricultural products.

Of the total, ₱1.230 billion involved illegal drugs, including a ₱749.63-million shabu haul at the Manila International Container Port. The BOC also uncovered ₱605.29 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Bulacan and ₱178 million worth of agricultural goods, underscoring its intensified drive to safeguard borders and protect local industries.
