CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark seized about 538 grams of high-grade marijuana or Kush worth P807,000 concealed inside ‘Labubu’ stuffed-toy keychains.

Authorities reported that the parcel arrived on November 15 from Hong Kong and was bound for Biñan, Laguna.

On November 19, operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a K-9 sniff test, which yielded positive indications for narcotics.

Samples submitted to PDEA for chemical analysis confirmed the substance as tetrahydrocannabinol, the active component in marijuana and a dangerous drug under Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A Warrant of Seizure and Detention was issued against the parcel for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to RA 9165.

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno commended the coordinated efforts of BOC personnel and partner agencies, saying the operation reflects the agency’s firm stand against illegal drug smuggling.

Port of Clark District Collector Jairus Reyes  also praised frontline officers for their vigilance and profiling skills.

“The Port of Clark maintains a heightened watch against any form of drug smuggling. Our proactive operations safeguard the public from the harms of illegal drugs and contribute to building safer communities,” he said.

The BOC said the operation supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify border protection and strengthen the campaign against illegal drugs. (CLJD/MJSC, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
