PDP-Laban senatorial candidate Atty. Jimmy Bondoc strongly opposed the congressional inquiry summoning vloggers over the spread of fake news and misinformation. He argued that the public, including vloggers, has the right to express opinions, even if those in power dislike them.
Citing a Supreme Court ruling, Bondoc emphasized that statements against public officials are not considered oral defamation if related to official duties. He added that even harsh criticism, including expletives out of frustration, is protected under the Constitution when directed at government officials regarding their performance in office.
