BPSU student dies at SM City Bataan Transport Terminal tragedy

A 20-year old student of the BPSU has died and another one was hurt when a bus rammed the Bataan Public Transport Terminal at SM City Bataan, Balanga City, Monday afternoon.

Police Lt. Col. Sonia Alvarez, OIC-chief of police of Balanga City PNP, said a mini-bus with plate number 030807, parked inside the terminal suddenly accelerated and crashed into the waiting area which caused the terminal wall to collapse. 

The driver was identified as Cesar Flerio Abelar, 57 years old, of Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan.

The wall apparently hit two waiting passengers identified as Jen Orviel Dinglasan Titolo and Christopher Poblete. Titolo, a 20-year-old male student of BPSU and a resident of Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan, died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Poblete, a 39-year-old male resident of Gugo, Samal, Bataan, was injured in his chest, back, and neck. Both of them were taken to Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City, Bataan.

According to Dr. Ryan Paul A. Pagdilao, the doctor who attended to them, Titolo was declared dead on arrival.

The total amount of damage to other properties of SM Transport Terminal and the vehicle involved in the accident is still unknown. The bus driver was taken to Balanga City Police Station for investigation.
