Capas National High School student tops DTI Tarlac Quiz Bee

Almario Mabuti of Capas National High School tops the 2024 Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) Provincial Quiz Bee of the Department of Trade and Industry Tarlac. He represented the province in the CWM Regional Quiz Bee wherein he finished third. (DTI Region 3)

A student from Capas National High School topped the 2024 Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) Provincial Quiz Bee of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac. 

Almario Mabuti also represented the province in the CWM Regional Quiz Bee wherein he finished third.

In an interview, Mabuti vowed to promote consumer rights in his own way as a student. 

“In order to raise awareness to my fellow students, I will use social media to help them know their rights as consumers. Today, most young people use Facebook and Tiktok, and I think this is the best platform to reach them,” he said. 

This year’s CWM carries the theme “Be Smart, Assert Your Consumer Rights”. 

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said the month-long celebration focuses on the eight basic consumer rights namely basic needs, safety, information, choice, representation, redress, consumer education, and healthy environment.

“The Consumer Welfare Month aims to heighten consumer awareness and widen the reach of the government’s consumer initiatives for more proactive, responsible and well-informed consumers in the country,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Warren Altre of Lawy National High School landed second in the 2024 CWM Provincial Quiz Bee of DTI Tarlac while Veatriz Vianz Cruz of Dapdap High School ended third. 

Marianne Velle Vitug of College of the Holy Spirit of Tarlac, on the other hand, placed first in the CWM Provincial Poster-Making Contest with Jomar Ular of Cardona National High School in second and Bryan Ancheta of Corazon C. Aquino High School in third. 

And lastly, Eriene Aleer Cloe Tolentino of Benigno S. Aquino National High School bested all contestants in the CWM Provincial Spoken Poetry Contest while Sandra Agustin of Cristo Rey High School secured second; and Prince Angelo Ferrer of Don Bosco Technical Institute ranked third. (CLJD/TJBM, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
