CITY OF SAN FERNANDO- The provincial government together with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) here has released P32.3 million for the implementation of this year’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).
Vice-Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda led the awarding of SPES salaries to some 3,399 students held last Monday at the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex.
The Vice- Governor told the students how privileged they are to be part of the program amidst DOLE’s strict budget allocation this 2019.
“Alam niyo Nak, napakaswerte niyo kasi pinayagan tayo ng DOLE na magkaroon ng maraming beneficiaries ngayong taon. Sa buong Pilipinas, tayo lang sa Pampanga ang may higit na 10,000 SPES students, at kabilang kayo roon,” the vice-governor said in vernacular.
Pineda who is running for governor said that this was made possible because of the provincial government’s initiative of prioritizing sufficient funds to support and help the student’s needs.
SPES beneficiary Jacklyn Mallari, BS Education student of the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU), said the SPES program is a great help for students like them who are badly in need of an extra source of income to pursue their studies and for those would like to gain work experience as well.
Meanwhile, DOLE Regional Director Zenaida-Angara Campita said yesterday that through the continued patronage of the Vice- Governor to support youth’s education, the implantation of the SPES program in the province has been always successful.
The SPES is an annual special program for students aimed at harnessing the student’s capacities and skills for the country’s wellbeing. It also seeks to help deserving students pursue their studies by encouraging employment during summer or Christmas vacation through the incentives granted by government and private partner agencies.
