Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. commended the teachers, and non-academic personnel of City College of Angeles after the institution received the Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Award from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
City College of Angeles President Dr. Frankie Villanueva on April 2, 2025 received the said award at the Manila Hotel.
EQUATE Awards is a recognition given by CHED to universities and colleges with consistent upholding of the highest standard in ensuring the quality of pre-service teacher education programs, following the CHED minimum standards, program accreditation, and excellent performance in the Board of Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT).
CCA is among the 120 Higher Education Institutions (HEI) awardees in Teacher Education out of 1,553 HEIs and one of the three local universities, and colleges who made the cut nationally in the Teacher Education program.
Lazatin recognized the achievement of CCA for setting the benchmark in teacher education—championing academic excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of quality assurance.
To recall, the CCA is undergoing its Association of Local Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA) Level 2 Accreditation for its seven bachelor programs.
Among the bachelor programs undergoing the Level 2 accreditation are Bachelor of Library and Information Science, Bachelor of Science (BS) in Entrepreneurship, BS in Tourism Management, BS in Computer Science, BS in Information Systems, Bachelor of Physical Education, and Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education.
