The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) confirmed the raid conducted on three establishments in the Clark Freeport Zone on Thursday, one of which was allegedly selling unregistered Chinese medicines.
In a statement, CDC said that around 3:30pm on Thursday, “investigators of the (CDC) Public Safety Division together with National Bureau of Investigation and the Food and Drug Administration personnel, conducted inspection at three establishments namely, 9999 Supermarket, along Jose Abad Santos Ave, CFZ., at the former “Shong Nong Hai Restaurant” located meters away from the supermarket that serve as a stockroom and at the Domehouse located inside the Clark Hills allegedly a warehouse of the said supermarket.”
“Upon inspection of the FDA personnel, undetermined boxes of Chinese products, Chinese medical devices and Chinese medicines were found thus samples were collected of each questionable items for product verification and analyzation,” the statement said.
“According to the FDA personnel the said supermarket was also selling Chinese medicines which was prohibited by FDA law,” according to the statement.
The CDC said half portion of the 9999 Supermarket, Domehouse warehouse and former Shong Nong Hai Restaurant stockroom were closed and sealed by the FDA personnel, pending for the examination result of each questionable items.
It said the three Chinese nationals were taken by the NBI in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga for documentation.
It was the second time that Chinese nationals were found selling Chinese medicines inside the Clark freeport. Earlier, the NBI and FDA shut down a villa inside the Fontana Leisure Park which was converted into a 7-bed capacity clinic treating Chinese COVID patients.
Operating the underground medical facility were Mr. Ling Hu, 45 years old, alleged owner; and Ms. Seung-Hyun Lee, 38 years old, pharmacist.
A warehouse at the PhilExcel was later raided and also found with Chinese medical supplies.
The warehouse is linked to the two Chinese nationals at the Fontana Leisure Parks inside the Clark Freeport Zone.
