CLARK FREEPORT— With its aim to provide inclusive development, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has recently supported various school projects and programs of its neighboring communities.
Through its External Affairs Department’s (EAD) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, some schools in Tarlac including San Vicente Elementary School (SVES) and Villa Concepcion Elementary School (VCES) have been given assistance by CDC. These include the completion of various projects that will be beneficial for student – related activities.
CDC supported the said schools by providing materials for the construction, concreting, and improvement of their respective school grounds, benefitting some 508 students. The completed projects were also recently inspected by CDC – EAD Assistant Vice President Rommel Narciso with Capacity Building Officer II Agnes Matias.
SVES Head Teacher II Maribeth Manipun said the improvement of their school grounds and provision of pavement in the area will help ensure the safety of their students.
“We requested for this project because our school grounds tend to be flooded during heavy rains and are concern is that it might cause minor accidents to students when this area becomes slippery. But with the completion of this project, we can ensure the safety of the students while we conduct various activities here,” Manipun said.
Accordingly, Joanne Santos, one of the teachers in SVES, thanked the state-owned firm for supporting the said project in their school.
“Our partnership with CDC especially with its External Affairs have been very harmonious. CDC have been very active whenever we ask for their help. Actually, we asked for their support in this project because this area in our school grounds has been prone to flood and we can’t hold our flag raising ceremony here. But with the completion of this project, we can now conduct the ceremony in our school grounds. We are very thankful that out of all the schools, they chose to prioritize this project,” Santos said.
Meanwhile, the tribal council of Sitio Malasa in Tarlac also received two computer sets which will be utilized by both students and out of school youths in the area. These computers were provided to help in the training on basic computer literacy and other trainings.
CDC has also partnered with its locators in extending help to selected communities. Recently, it collaborated with Quest Hotel and Clark Water Corporation (CWC) where they conducted water rationing in Sitio Gayaman and Barangay Anupul in Tarlac.
Other CSR programs of CDC include the Brigada Eskwela where 14 schools from Mabalacat City, Tarlac and Porac benefited.
