
BALANGA CITY – Ten local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon are the first in the country to complete their 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) projects.
This accomplishment marks the region’s 3rd consecutive year in the national Top 10, underscoring its consistent commitment to transparency, innovation, and community development.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Director Anthony Nuyda said the recognition proves how Central Luzon continues to maximize government resources to implement meaningful and community-centered projects.
“This accomplishment resonates with DILG Central Luzon’s tagline ‘Tres The Best’, made possible through the dedication of LGUs and their ability to turn funding into tangible outcomes that directly benefit communities,” he said.
The 10 LGUs from Central Luzon were among the 714 nationwide that passed the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) assessment.
Apalit in Pampanga topped the list after completing the construction and installation of street lights at its government complex (Phase 2).
Bagac in Bataan ranked 2nd by installing solar street lights in Barangay Banawang, followed by Santa Maria in Bulacan in 3rd place for its solar streetlight installation in Barangay San Jose Patag.
Paombong in Bulacan placed 4th after procuring an ultrasound machine to strengthen local health services, while Minalin in Pampanga took 5th after finishing its solar streetlight installation.

San Marcelino in Zambales landed in 6th place by acquiring a brand-new mobile patrol vehicle to boost peace and order in the municipality.
Pilar in Bataan ranked 7th for installing a CCTV system at its modern public market.
Moncada in Tarlac claimed the 8th spot with the opening of a local access road at the Camangaan West farm-to-market road.
San Felipe in Zambales placed 9th after constructing a vermicomposting facility to support solid waste management and sustainable agriculture.
Gabaldon in Nueva Ecija completed the list with its solar streetlight installation project.
The SGLG is an institutionalized award, incentive, and recognition-based program of the DILG that promotes exemplary local governance by upholding transparency, accountability, and effective public service delivery across various governance areas.
The SGLGIF, formerly known as the Performance Challenge Fund, provides financial grants to eligible LGUs that pass the rigorous assessment under the DILG’s SGLG program. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
