
Officials from the City Government of San Fernando and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) met on July 15, 2025, at the CGSFP Executive Building to discuss the government’s ongoing work on the North-South Commuter Railway Extension (NSCR-Ex) Project.

Mayor Vilma Balle-Caluag, accompanied by some of the LGU department heads, including Acting City Administrator Engr. Michael Quizon, Jr., discussed with DOTr’s Assistant Secretary for Right of Way Acquisition for Rail and Road IC Calaguas the details of the planned acquisition of portions of the St. Vincent of Quebiawan Integrated School, which will be affected by the project.

The aforementioned school was among the structures identified for acquisition, along with other residences and establishments in the city that house a number of project-affected persons. The conversation focused on the practicalities of dismantling certain areas of the school grounds, with both the local government and the DOTr seeking a solution for the affected parties in compliance with existing laws.

In a show of commitment, the city government, together with the City Schools Division of San Fernando, reaffirmed its full support to the DOTr, particularly in assisting with the demolition and relocation efforts for the affected properties along the railway project. | CIO-ECB, JRIR, SDL
