CL crime rate dips under Enhanced Community Quarantine — PNP

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — Implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Central Luzon is generally peaceful with a drop in crime rate in the first five days.

“From March 17-21, we recorded 17 incidents of focus crime, this is lower by 77.33 percent compared to 75 cases recorded during the same period in 2019,” Police Regional Director PBGen. Rhodel Sermonia said.

Moreover, this is lower by 80.68% to the 71 cases recorded the previous week of March 10-16, 2020.

Focus crimes include murder, homicide, robbery, theft, physical injury, MC motornapping, MV motornapping and rape.

“This significant decrease in crimes can be attributed to the leveling up of our anti-criminality measures and community partnership thru the implementation of our focused projects. Aside from our on-going quarantine operations, we are relentless in our pro-active efforts against all forms of lawlessness. Still, we continue to appeal to the public for their continuous cooperation in our crime prevention efforts in Central Luzon especially during these trying times,” Sermonia added.

ECQ, meant to curb the rising number of cases of coronavirus disease, will be implemented in the entire Luzon from March 17 to April 13.
