The Clark International Airport Corporation has beefed up security measures following the deadly bombing of Istanbul Airport in Turkey on Wednesday that left 36 people dead.
CIAC Aviation Security and Police Department (ASPD) Manager Edgar Guevarra advised passengers and travelers to be on time for their flights at Clark airport to avoid any delays and inconvenience since strict security measures have been implemented at the airport.
“We advise passengers and travelers to be on time for their flights, as we are monitoring all movements at the Civil Aviation Complex, especially at the Passenger Terminal Building,” said Guevarra.
The security measures are implemented for the safety of all passengers flying in and out of the airport as well as airport personnel.
CIAC had been implementing security measures even before the reported incidents of bombings and all other kinds of threats at airports around the world, according to Guevarra. “CIAC has always been consistent in its security programs for the safety of the public.”
“We conducted an inspection of the facilities and directed all security personnel to closely monitor movements in the area to avoid any untoward incidents,” Guevarra added.
He said that CRK is always ready for any eventuality that may occur as its security personnel are well-trained for emergency scenarios to protect the passengers using the airport and airport employees.
Guevarra urged passengers to avoid bringing in prohibited items that include knives and liquids, aerosols or gels (LAGs) beyond allowable limits to avoid inconvenience.
At least 36 people have been reported killed with a still undetermined number injured during a suspected terrorist bombing of the Istanbul Ataturk Airport, the main international airport serving Istanbul and the biggest airport in Turkey. It is also one of Europe’s busiest air hubs.
No individual or organization has claimed responsibility for the attack although Turkish authorities say evidence points to Daesh, using another name for IS.
