CAMP OLIVAS — A college dean died while several others were injured when the bus ferrying nursing students turned turtle along the Tarlac-Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX) near Barangay Poroc, Pura, in Tarlac province.
The fatality was identified as Ulpiatrasinia Tuzon, dean of the Divine World College in Bangued, Abra.
Unidentified nursing students and a college instructor were also reportedly hurt.
The Partas bus driven by Joe Agudal Ecleo, of Bgy. Manayday, San Isidro, Abra, lost control of the vehicle upon reaching Bgy. Poroc, Pura, Tarlac
The bus then crashed into the steel barrier and turned upside down.
Police said the vehicle came from Abra and was on its way to Manila when the incident happened. With Tuzon were two clinical instructors and 30 nursing students.
Tuzon and the injured victims were brought to the Tarlac Provincial Hospital, but the dean was declared dead on arrival.
The bus driver is now in the custody of the police facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries and damage to property.
