COMELEC urges Bataan youth to vote in 2022 polls

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) urged registered youth voters in the province of Bataan to vote in the 2022 National and Local Elections on May 9.

Mariveles Election Officer Melanio Sibayan said COMELEC will implement health safety measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic including compulsory checking of temperature prior to entry at the voting center.

“Individuals who will record a 37.5°C and higher and will show Covid-19 like symptoms will be asked to cast their votes in the designated isolation area located at the same voting center,” he said during the fourth leg of Kilos Kabataan: Makibahagi sa Halalan! voter’s education webinar.

“We are not belittling the threat of Covid-19, but rest assured that minimum public health standards will still be strictly imposed,” Sibayan emphasized.

Physical distancing will strictly be implemented inside voting precincts with the maximum allowable number of voters depending on the size of the classroom. 

Voting hours has also been extended from 6:00AM to 7:00PM. 

The province of Bataan has a total of 566,479 registered voters for the 2022 National and Local Elections. 

Mariveles has the highest number of registered voters with 89,085 followed by Dinalupihan with 74,991 and Balanga City with 69,471.

Limay has 57,262 registered voters, Hermosa with 50,030, Orani with 48,916, Orion with 40,056, Pilar with 30,946, Samal with 29,669, Abucay with 28,142, Bagac with 24,423 and Morong with 23,488.
