COMELEC urges Tarlac youth to vote in 2022 polls

Commission on Elections (COMELEC) urged registered youth voters in the province of Tarlac to vote in the 2022 National and Local Elections on May 9.

Acting Tarlac City Elections Officer Jenalyn Tabifranca said COMELEC will implement health safety measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic including compulsory checking of temperature prior to entry at the voting center.

“Individuals who will record a 37.5°C and higher and will show Covid-19 like symptoms will be asked to cast their votes in the designated isolation area located at the same voting center,” she said during the first leg of Kilos Kabataan: Makibahagi sa Halalan! voter’s education webinar.

“We are not belittling the threat of Covid-19, but rest assured that minimum public health standards will still be strictly imposed,” Tabifranca emphasized.

Physical distancing will strictly be implemented inside voting precincts with the maximum allowable number of voters depending on the size of the classroom. 

Voting hours has also been extended from 6:00AM to 7:00PM. 

The province of Tarlac has a total of 898,634 registered voters for the 2022 National and Local Elections. 

Tarlac City has the highest number of registered voters with 213,784 followed by Concepcion with 106,576 and Capas with 84,438.

The first leg of Kilos Kabataan: Makibahagi sa Halalan! was organized by the Philippine Information Agency in partnership with COMELEC, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting, Tarlac State University, and Tarlac Agricultural University.
