Companies offer 1K jobs to TVET graduates in Nueva Ecija

Over 1,000 careers were offered by 18 companies to Technical-Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates and other jobseekers in Nueva Ecija.

The job fair was part of the 2024 World Café of Opportunities (WCO) of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which is in line with the celebration of the agency’s 30th founding anniversary and observance of the National Technical-Vocational Day.

TESDA Provincial Director Alvin Yturralde stated that WCO is typically held in various locations across the country to reach a wide range of participants, emphasizing the agency’s commitment to empowering Filipino workers through accessible and practical opportunities.

“[WCO] is a significant event of TESDA. The event serves as a one-stop venue where our graduates, trainees, and other skilled workers can explore various employment, entrepreneurship, and further education opportunities,” he highlighted.

Among the job seekers who attended the event, 26 were hired on the spot while 39 were categorized as near-hired.

“We can see that [WCO] has an impact on our fellow citizens because we are able to provide jobs to those in need. This only proves that the training we provide at TESDA is valuable,” Yturralde underscored.

Meanwhile, Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) in the province facilitated the mass enrollment for those interested in becoming TESDA scholars wherein about 800 slots were up for grabs.

TESDA Regional Director Baron Jose Lagran thanked partner government agencies, TVIs, and private institutions that contributed to the success of WCO.

“We encourage and appeal for your continued support for TESDA so that we can further enhance our duty to provide the necessary training to the Filipino people, particularly to Filipino workers, to prepare them for job opportunities both locally and abroad,” Lagran furthered.

Aside from the opportunities offered, the event also showcased the skills of participants in the Demolympics with competitions in cake decorating and the art of plating.

TVIs likewise demonstrated creative techniques in fondant making and bartending. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
