MAGALANG , Pampanga – Out-going Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. officially takes his oath as Representative of the First District of Pampanga on June 10, 2025 in front of Barangay Captain Alfredo Soriano Jr. of Escaler, Magalang.

Continuing the tradition of his late father, former Angeles City Mayor and Pampanga First District Representative Carmelo ‘Tarzan’ Lazatin, Cong Pogi took his oath in the barangay where he recorded the highest percentage of votes.

Cong Pogi got 70.31% of votes in Barangay Escaler, the highest in any barangay in the First District.

Cong Pogi’s victory was proclaimed on May 13, 2025, following a historic win where he garnered a total of 262,517 votes – the first Representative of the Pampanga First District to do so.

In his home city of Angeles, Lazatin garnered a total of 122,431 votes, breaking his own record set in the Mayoralty elections of 2022 where he accumulated more than 112,000 votes — also the first for any Angeles City Mayor.

Meanwhile, Lazatin recorded 88,707 votes in Mabalacat City and 51,379 votes in the Municipality of Magalang.

“Ginulis tamu pu keng kasaysayan uli na pu ning kekayung alang patugut a suporta. Dacal a dacal pung salamat. Puryan taya pu ing Guinu,” Lazatin said of his win.

Before heading to Barangay Escaler in Magalang to take oath, Lazatin was seen going around various schools in Mabalacat City and Magalang Town to deliver his personal donations of cement and paint, in support of this year’s Brigada Eskwela.

58 public schools in Mabalacat City and 58 public schools in Magalang Town will receive 580 sacks of cement, 116 liters of paint, and 232 paint brushes each, personally donated by Lazatin out of his own pocket.

Participating in the Brigada Eskwela has been a yearly tradition of Lazatin since he first became a Councilor in Angeles City in 2013.

As District Representative, Lazatin’s legislative agenda will highlight seven main areas: Health; Economy and Livelihood; Vulnerable and Marginalized Sectors (Children, Youth, Women, Senior Citizens, Persons with Disability (PWDs), Solo Parents, and LGBTQ); Environment; Education; Transportation; and Barangays.

“Sa ating panunungkulan, wala pong maiiwan. No one will be left behind,” said Lazatin, “Ito po ang aking binitawang pangako noong kampanya na tutuparin po natin pag upo natin. Lahat ng sektor ng ating lipunan ay mararamdaman ang ating sinserong paninilbihan. Alang malalakwan king Primeru Distritu ning Pampanga.”
