Construction of new TESDA Aurora building commences

A groundbreaking ceremony signaled the official start of construction for the new two-storey provincial office building of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Baler, Aurora.

The 500-square meter facility aims to provide dedicated spaces for staff, training, and administration, enhancing access to a broader range of technical and vocational courses for residents of the province.

TESDA Regional Director Toni June Tamayo said the multipurpose building will accommodate more students and clients.

“This is a more optimum and effective area for us to completely implement our technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs. In addition to the multifunctional facility, there are more spaces for community-based training,” he added.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is implementing the construction of the P14.48-million building funded by the 2024 General Appropriations Act.

DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal emphasized the project’s importance, noting challenges faced by the current TESDA building in meeting the growing demand for TVET.

“It hinders the ability of trainees to acquire competitive job market skills. The upcoming facility will include a staff workstation, Provincial Director’s room, multipurpose hall, and other amenities to enrich the learning environment,” Andal said.

For his part, Aurora Lone District Representative Rommel Angara echoed his support for the initiative, emphasizing its potential to enhance workforce development in the province.

“The establishment of this modern TESDA facility is expected to attract more students seeking vocational education, thereby contributing to the overall development and enhancement of the local workforce,” Angara remarked.

The infrastructure will cater to a diverse group of students, offering courses in automotive technology, culinary arts, and information technology, aligning with the demands of the modern workforce. (CLJD/MAT, PIA Region 3-Aurora)
