Councilor, 13 others arrested in Tarlac illegal online sabong

Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Some 14 persons including a municipal councilor on Saturday were arrested in a raid at the cockpit arena in San Manuel, Tarlac.

Tarlac police commander Col. Renante Cabico identified the suspects as CAJY cockpit arena operator and San Manuel Councilor Diosdado Sunio, 67; cockpit caretakers Natalie Icoy, 21, and Marilyn Sunio, 40; Diosdado Sunio Jr., 38; Bernie Fabro,  40; Julimar Veñeranda, 28; Mark Joseph Parong, 32; Rodrigo Teñoso Jr., 34; Ricardo Bartolome Jr., 37;  Romandy Valdez, 26; Rodante Taliño, 33; all arena employees and residents of Bgy. San Felipe, San Manuel; Joseph Pilot, 35, of Bgy. Sto Tomas, Pangasinan; Eugenio Angeles, 54, of Bgy. Bakal III, Talavera, Nueva Ecija; and Ireneo Quintos Jr., 36, of Bgy. Cabangaran, San Quintin, Pangasinan.

Cabico said his men seized in the raid 25 fighting cocks, P7,386 bet money, 21 boxes of rooster gaff,  POS machine system, 18 pcs. blank POS receipt, a laptop, a video recorded w/ tripod, 2 computer desktops, a microphone, and two weighing scales.

Sunio, who also yielded a .45 pistol loaded with seven live bullets, failed to present the documents for the gun.

The suspects, who will be charged with iIllegal gambling operation, are now at the San Manuel police jail.
