CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A total of 25 personnel of Police Regional Office 3 Health Service Unit lauded the City of San Fernando’s Covid-19 Kalingang Fernandino isolation facility after being declared medically-cleared, following a 14-day mandatory quarantine.
The police officers lauded the city government and the facility personnel for “going beyond” their duties as medical or utility staff.
“Even though we come from different places, we are so much thankful to the local government of San Fernando because they did not treat us as outsiders. We really felt their support not only because we are patients, but because we are friends, and family as well,” one of the police officers said during his gratitude speech.
He also cited the people manning the facility, including the medical staff, nurses, doctors, and members of the Camp/Facility Management Team for attending both to their medical and psychological needs.
In addition, Isolation Facility Manager Cheriane Canlas stated that the police officers were admitted to the isolation facility in the last week of January, and were pronounced fully-recovered on February 8.
“As we perform contact tracing, we found out that their source of infection is the breach in infection control protocols. Maybe they were infected because they do physical trainings all together,” she explained.
She added that the facility continues to render free services to its patients for accommodation, food, laundry services, medications, and medical assessment and monitoring.
Meanwhile, Regional Health Service 3 Chief of Medical Dispensary Police Major Florante Quiban II pledged to strictly implement the infection control measures within the unit to prevent the spread of the virus.
As a way of paying back, the recovered patients donated blood with convalescent plasma which will benefit the COVID-19 patients admitted at Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and other health facilities. –Jag Lyra Costamero
