CRK a save haven for OFWs

More than 200 passengers who have been stranded for days at the Clark International Airport (CRK), most who are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), will be given necessary assistance due to the community quarantine imposed in their respective provincial destinations.

To ensure their welfare and safety, the CRK, with Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Clark Development Corporation (CDC), and the Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corporation (LIPAD), joined hands in extending food and shelter assistance to the returning passengers and OFWs, as the entirety of Luzon is under an Enhanced Community Quarantine amidst the COVID-19 threat.

According to their joint statement, starting on Thursday, March 19, they will be provided with free food and lodging. They will be housed in various locations in Clark. “They will be taken good cared of while in Clark, until the imposed lockdowns in their destinations are lifted,” it said.

The aforementioned corporations also expressed their gratitude to the DOT, DOTR, DILG, OWWA, DSWD, Pampanga Provincial Government, Angeles and Mabalacat city governments, Pampanga Red Cross and the Mabalacat City Tourism Council for supporting them with assistance to the passengers the past several days.

The CRK will remain operational should there be inbound and outbound international flights. For international outbound flights, only OFWs, balikbayans, and foreign nationals will be allowed to leave, while inbound international passengers will be subjected to strict quarantine protocols.
