The City Government of San Fernando in Pampanga headed by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago collected 50 units of blood from donors during a blood-letting program conducted at the City Hall Atrium on Feb. 2.
The “Dugo Ko, Karugtong ng Buhay Mo!” program, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, is in line with San Fernando’s 16th Cityhood Anniversary this month. It was organized by the City Health Office to provide Fernandino patients access to blood.
The CHO reported that hundreds of patients infected with dengue, suffering from cancer, and even those who underwent surgical operations, have already benefitted from the collected blood under the program since its launching in 2013.
Among those who supported the program were employees of the City Hall, personnel from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire and Protection, and other government agencies.
Mayor Santiago hailed the blood donors for their support and praised them for their noble deed of giving blood so others may live.
“You are all heroes for being an instrument to save others’ lives” he added.
