The City of San Fernando’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) was recognized by the Department of Labor and Employment for having the highest job placement rate for the JobStart Philippines Program.
DOLE Pampanga Labor and Employment Chief Arlene Tolentino presented the Certificate of Recognition to Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, and PESO Manager Donny Sayre during Monday’s flag raising ceremony.
Tolentino said San Fernando garnered a total of 98% placement rate during the Wave 1 Rollout implementation of JobStart followed by Quezon City with 97% and Caloocan City with 90%.
In his speech, Mayor EdSa lauded the efforts of the PESO for providing full-cycle employment facilitation services that include life skills trainings, job matching to seeking employment.
“I commend you for consistently ensuring ample job opportunities for our Fernandinos. This award is a testament of your hard work,” Santiago added.
In 2013, the City of San Fernando pioneered the JobStart Program, a project of DOLE in partnership with the Government of Canada funded by the Asian Development Bank that benefits at-risk youth by helping them find employment.
