CSF inaugurates rehabilitated public market

Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago led the blessing and inauguration of the rehabilitated wet section (Camarin C) in the City Public Market located at Brgy. Del Pilar on Tuesday.

In his speech, Santiago said the local government allotted P57M for its improvement and rehabilitation which started sometime in July last year.

Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago on Tuesday leads the inauguration of the rehabilitated wet section (Camarin C) in the City Public Market of San Fernando located at Brgy. Del Pilar.

He furthered the redeveloping and modernization of public markets, which are the heart and soul of a community, will further boost local economic growth.

“Sustainable public markets offer a wide range of benefits to the citizenry such as attaining food security and providing better marketing opportunities to our Fernandino entrepreneurs and farmers,” Santiago added.

With an estimated 3,000 square-meter floor area, the newly constructed building has 98 fixed stalls and 516 tables divided into meat, fish and chicken section.

According to the City Engineer’s Office, the operation of the public market shall begin next week.

Meanwhile, the naming of the formerly tagged ‘New Public Market’ into ‘City Public Market’ is in accordance with the city ordinance No. 2017-017 passed March 15.

Also present during the event were Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilor BJ Lagman, Councilor Noel Tulabut and City Hall department heads.
