The Davao City government is exerting all efforts to locate Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) stranded in the different places of the country and wanting to come home, an official said Tuesday.
City Tourism Operations Office head Generose Tecson said they are currently sourcing data from the Davao City Stranded Persons Database Center but had difficulty with the amount of information the system is getting.
“We are now fixing the system as our site got clogged with the volume of data we received,” Tecson said, adding the center is now prioritizing the encoding and cleaning out the multiple entries submitted by stranded residents.
She said the sweeper flight for stranded residents that will depart on Wednesday (May 6) from Manila to Davao will carry some 400 passengers.
No figures yet are available for the number of people stranded in this city who are going to be ferried during the return flight on the same day, she added.
Tecson said the first sweeper flight that arrived Monday in Clark from this city was loaded with 150 passengers, while passengers for the Clark-Davao flight only numbered 40.
She also declined to say when the next sweeper flight schedule would be but assured that the city government “is really exerting all efforts in bringing stranded Dabawenyos from other places to come home safely.” (PNA)
