MORONG, Bataan — Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio lauded Bataan for continuously preserving marine turtles.
In her message during Sunday’s Pawikan Festival, she commended Governor Albert Raymond Garcia for the initiatives and projects that promote and preserve the environment.
She also urged Bataeños to keep on protecting marine turtles and make sure the sea creatures will continue to reproduce.
Duterte and Garcia released about 80 marine turtle hatchlings together with other officials present during the festivity.
Activities in the whole day event include walk for a cause, trade fair, visual exhibit creative forum, and environment fair.
Meanwhile, students and local tourists participated in various competitions on sand sculpture, quiz bee, paddle painting, dance and photography.
Pawikan Festival aims to preserve the endangered species of marine turtles in the country and intensify public awareness on protecting the ecosystem.
The annual event is organized by the provincial government of Bataan in partnership with the Bataan Tourism Council Foundation Inc., municipal government of Morong, and Bantay Pawikan Inc.
