Gubernatorial bet Dennis “Delta” Pineda was a no-show at the recent candidates forum in the City of San Fernando.
Only two gubernatorial candidates – Bacolor Mayor Jomar Hizon and Atty Amado Santos, both independents – have attended the candidates forum dubbed “nanungBETmu” held on Wednesday. The debate was coordinated by the University of Assumption and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster sa Pilipinas – Pampanga Chapter.
According to the organizers of the candidates forum from the University of the Assumption, Vice Governor Pineda who is currently running for governor, did not show up despite an invitation.
Father Joselito C, Henson, President of the University of Assumption, said the candidates forum will allow the political candidates “to introduce themselves and their programs. And at the same time, the (people) will have the chance to know the candidates better.”
“Sana ini makasaup keng kekatamung pamamili nung ninu deng karapat dapat lukluk kareng miyayaliwang puestu,” said Henson. (We are hoping this will help us in choosing the right leaders who will fill up various public positions).
Henson acknowledged the “generous response” the candidates forum elicited from the political candidates.
Only six candidates have attended the forum. They were City of San Fernando re-electionist Mayor Edwin Santiago; Dolores Barangay Captain Vilma Caluag, also running for CSF mayor; City of San Fernando Councilor Angie Hizon who is running for CSF vice mayor; Jimmy Lazatin, also running for CSF vice mayor; Bacolor Mayor Jomar Hizon, who is running for governor; and Atty. Amado Santos, who is also running for governor.
