CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has signed a partnership with GIGASOL3, Inc., one of the country’s top solar energy firms, to rehabilitate and protect 28 hectares of forestland in Palauig, Zambales.
The deal, sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), highlights a public-private commitment to ecological sustainability. Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo emphasized the importance of involving the private sector in the DENR’s National Greening Program (NGP) to combat climate change, promote food security, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Under the MOA, GIGASOL3 will manage and maintain the greening site with a targeted 85% survival rate over five years. Meanwhile, the DENR will support the initiative with training, technical assistance, and a comprehensive tree plantation plan.
Officials from DENR Central Luzon and Zambales, as well as GIGASOL3 representatives, attended the ceremonial signing.
