In her message, the Secretary recognized the Estero and River Rangers as frontliners in waste management, working in toughest conditions to prevent pollution and mitigate the risks of flooding.

β€œYour work is more than just removing trash and encouraging the community to properly manage waste. It is a powerful declaration of hope and determinationβ€”a signal that conservation is not just a job but a responsibility woven into our community and culture,” the Secretary said.

The event brought together a total of 2,600 River and Estero Rangers from the three Manila Bay regions, with about 700 participants from Central Luzon.

During the activity, Region 3 dominated the talent competition, as thirty-five River Rangers captivated the audience and judges with their remarkable performance of the original song β€œSagipin Natin ang Mundo.”

Eighteen River Rangers were also recognized for their leadership excellence, exemplary service, commitment to professional development, and empowerment and inclusivity of persons with disabilities.

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo lauded the hardwork and dedication of Estero Rangers deployed in Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac, noting their indispensable role in rehabilitating the Manila Bay.

“We are immensely proud of our River Rangers. We will continue to support our Department’s commitment to equip them with necessary resources, training, and institutional support to enhance their capabilities,” Pablo said.

The Manila Bay Site Coordinating and Management Office here reported that in 2024 over 1.5 million kilograms of waste were collected from critical waterways in Region 3.

River Rangers were deployed to conduct daily cleanups, monitor waterways and linear parks, and discuss among communities the importance of proper waste management.
