DENR launches ‘Forests for Life’ initiative

MANILA—The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Central Luzon has joined the nationwide launch of the “Forests for Life: 5 Million Trees by 2028” initiative, a large-scale reforestation effort aimed at strengthening the country’s climate resilience and biodiversity conservation.

The program seeks to plant five million trees across various provinces to help sequester an estimated 3.5 million tons of carbon by 2038. Among the priority areas identified for the project is the province of Bataan, which will play a key role in the nationwide greening efforts.

The formal signing of the agreement was attended by DENR Central Luzon Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo, along with representatives from the provincial government of Bataan and private sector partners.

Through collaborative efforts, the initiative aims to bolster environmental sustainability and support the country’s commitment to mitigating climate change through large-scale forest restoration.
