DepEd Central Luzon personnel provide support to frontliners

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — Department of Education (DepEd) personnel in Central Luzon did their share in the battle against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by providing support to frontliners and those severely affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).

“The consolidated report from 13 Schools Divisions Offices shows that as of April 15, there are 20,243 pieces of face masks, 4,587 face shields, and 293 protective suits fabricated by both teaching and non-teaching personnel and distributed to frontliners and medical staff in the various cities and municipalities,” DepEd Regional Director Nicolas Capulong said.

Moreover, the total amount of food donations and relief packs have reached PhP5,948,965.50, which were given as meals and snacks for frontliners and relief goods for the affected families.

“Not only can teachers and non-teaching staff contribute by donating goods and serving at the frontlines during these times of uncertainty and panic but giving their own share through art and creativity is also needed to help disseminate the valuable information to the general public,” Capulong added.

Teacher Noelyne Joyosa of Agusuhin Elementary in Subic, Zambales created a storybook titled “Kakaibang Araw” which was inspired by the frontliners’ lives and the changes their family needs to face.

Teacher Jojit Elemento of Bamban National High School in Masinloc, Zambales, on the other hand, came up with his “Ten COVIDments” that serve as useful reminders on how to cope during the ECQ.

As a tribute to all frontliners, Teacher Jaybee Basilio of Teodoro P. Tinio Elementary School in Angeles City composed a song titled “Laban Pinoy, Iisang Puso.”
