Dizon seeks Angeles LGU aid on railway

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has asked the local government here to help resolve right-of-way issues delaying the Clark-Angeles-Calumpit railway project.

Dizon met with Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. on Thursday, March 7, to discuss the city’s role in clearing the path for the railway’s construction. Lazatin assured Dizon of the city’s full cooperation but stressed the need to involve affected barangays.

“We fully support this project as it will provide a more efficient and accessible transportation system for our people. However, we need to ensure that all concerns are addressed promptly and fairly,” Lazatin said.

Dizon reaffirmed the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) commitment to working with the city and other stakeholders to fast-track right-of-way acquisition.

Also present in the meeting were Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and now DOTr Assistant Secretary IC Calaguas, City Councilor Atty. Arvin Suller, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, and DOTr Project Management Consultant Engineer Shi Yamamoto.

Officials from Angeles City’s engineering, business permit, environment, and human settlements offices also attended.

The North-South Commuter Railway Clark Extension Project is expected to serve 342,000 passengers daily once completed.
