CABANATUAN CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) Central Luzon Center for Health Development promotes the ThyroMobile program and telemedicine services to enhance thyroid health awareness and accessibility.
Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (GHMC) ENT head and neck medical specialist Jefferson Alamani emphasized the importance of early detection of thyroid disorders.
“Everyone should do monthly self-checks by inspecting the neck for lumps via mirror and palpation to identify potential issues early,” he said.
The recently launched ThyroMobile initiative aims to provide mobile thyroid screening, particularly in areas with low iodine levels, facilitating early diagnosis and intervention.
With this, he also encouraged the use of the free telemedicine platform “Hello Doc” which offers remote consultations, ensuring residents can access medical advice without visiting health facilities thus improving early management of thyroid conditions.
Alamani also said that thyroid function tests, ultrasounds, biopsies and consultations are available at Bataan GHMC, complementing telemedicine efforts.
“Early detection of thyroid abnormalities is critical. Everyone is encouraged to perform regular self-assessments and utilize telemedicine services for prompt medical advice,” he pressed.
