Department of Health (DOH) Central Luzon encourages partners including local government units, government agencies, development organizations, and health workers to continue efforts and measures in fighting Tuberculosis (TB).
In celebration of World Tuberculosis Day, DOH Regional Director Corazon Flores recognized all health workers in the region for joining the race to end TB.
“With the pandemic, it is not easy to conduct case finding and cure our tuberculosis patients especially that some of symptoms may be associated with COVID-19, but I commend all our health workers for pushing to find these cases because of our end goal to provide them free treatment,” Flores said.
Likewise, she expressed her gratitude and appealed to local chief executives for supporting the campaign.
“I appeal to our local chief executives to pass ordinances for multi-sectoral collaboration for TB related programs. Let us allocate budget and resources for the health of our constituents,” she added.
She also encouraged government agencies to spread information in their sector and connect patients to DOH or local government units.
Finally, she thanked development organizations for helping in terms of financial support.
“Lastly, to our development partners, thank you for the support that you have given to the Department of Health and local government units in terms of technical assistance and even funding support,” she said.
In line with the celebration, DOH held its Race to End TB Regional Annual Awards for 2021 where in provinces, municipalities, and health facilities were recognized for their performance and contribution to end TB.
