CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The Department of Health Region-3 (DOH-3) on Saturday inspected the city’s isolation facilities at the Civic Center.
Dr. Ria Ramos, Medical Officer III, Health Facility and Development Unit of Region 3; Fernando Guanzon, Engineer IV, Health Facility Enhancement Program; and, Charlie Sanchez, Development Management officer IV led the inspection and evaluation.
DOH particularly looked on the facilities’ compliance with floor plan structure; infection, prevention and control protocols; proper training of the staff on proper use of PPEs and infection control measures; and, sanitation guidelines.
According to Dr. Emy Mercado of the City Health Office, the facility’s structure has been already assessed and approved but the City still needs to comply with other DOH requirements.
“As assessed by the engineer kanina, there is a minimal concern on the structure, but the DOH obliged us to pass all necessary papers and documentations like training certificates ng mga medical staff na magma-manage ng facility natin, the Memorandum of Agreement with hospitals, etc. They are giving us until next week to comply,” Mercado said.
The City’s application for the accreditation of its facilities and testing centers is one of its efforts in the prevention, mitigation, preparedness for, and containment of the COVID-19 outbreak at the local level.
The conversion of the City Civic Center into a COVID-19 facility is also Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago’s response to the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2020-064, directing all local chief executives (LCE) to identify government facilities that may be temporarily converted into isolation and quarantine facilities.
