CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bulacan Field Office has expressed its support to the City of San Jose Del Monte’s bid to be declared as the “Human Resource Capital of Central Luzon.”

DOLE Assistant Regional Director and Bulacan Officer-in-Charge Alejandro Inza Cruz said the city government is very aggressive in providing opportunities to upgrade the skills of its labor force.

He pointed out that continuous upskilling is essential to make the labor force more competitive and pass the global standards.

City Public Employment Service Office Manager Perfecto Jaime Tagalog disclosed that out of San Jose Del Monte’s 1.2 million population, about 70 percent or approximately 840,000 are part of the labor force.

“With our proximity to Metro Manila, particularly North Caloocan and Quezon City, our labor force spreads across the metropolis particularly in the sectors of Business Process Outsourcing, food, retail and construction,” he shared.

Tagalog cited that many of the workers are always considered to work in the construction of high-impact infrastructure projects of the national government.

The city government has an existing Memorandum of Agreement with two of the biggest construction firms in the country, namely EEI Corporation and the D.M. Consunji Inc., who are involved in the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 and Skyway Stage 3 projects.

The local government unit is also currently working with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority for the establishment of a two-hectare economic zone in barangays Kay Banban, Paradise 3 and San Roque.

It can initially accommodate four to seven big locators that will create 10,000 new jobs.

Representatives from the United Kingdom and Malaysia are already expressing their interest in investing in the upcoming economic zone. (CLJD/SFV, PIA Region 3-Bulacan)
