DOLE grants aid to 3,428 COVID-19 affected private workers in Bataan

BALANGA CITY — Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provided financial assistance to about 3,428 private sector workers in Bataan who are affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

DOLE Provincial Director Leilani Reynoso said beneficiaries will receive PhP5,000 each under the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP). DOLE will transfer the cash grant directly to the payroll account of the beneficiaries.

“For Bataan, 129 establishments with a total of 3,428 workers benefitted as of April 3, amounting to PhP17,140,000,” Reynoso said in an interview.

Due to influx of applications, Reynoso is asking for patience and understanding of private sector workers who are expecting to receive the one-time financial assistance.

“We are currently processing a large volume of applications and majority of our DOLE employees have been utilized for this purpose,” Reynoso explained.

“We want to give all the specific status of the application but please bear with us because it would take some time to take our processors away from the actual evaluation and might cause a delay,” she furthered.

Moreover, Reynoso stressed that the program is only for private establishments that adopted the flexible work arrangement or issued a temporary closure as compliance with the issued guidelines of ECQ.

“Employers are highly encouraged to submit their applications for their employees who were displaced at work,” she said.

Deadline of application is until April 14, 2020.
