Don Bosco, or John Bosco, is an Italian Salesian priest from the east of Turin, Italy. During his early age, he committed on devoting himself on helping the youth.
He was named as the “Father and Teacher of the Youth” for helping the educating the young people and assisting them on coping with the problems that they encountered in the world.
Seeing the impact of Don Bosco on the youth and its relevance in the community, Dr. Aleli Santiago, Don Bosco Academy Father Rector Ditto Gueco and Andy Alviz came up with an idea to create a musical that will target the young in this modern era.
In the press conference of the “Don Bosco and the Lost Boys: The Musical”, Alviz said the musical has a modern music and choreography which could make a relevant impact on today’s youth.
Alviz said the event could help to “drown up the fever and knowledge to everybody here in Pampanga that Don Bosco Bacolor is here” after its 21 years of absence.
He added it will reintroduce the life of Don Bosco, will serve as a vocation campaign, and will be part of the Academy’s fund-raising efforts. The vocation campaign aims to encourage the youth to answer the call of dedicating themselves for the people.
Meanwhile, the funds raised on the musical will help the Academy to improve its facilities and with the buildings and expansion.
The Musical
The Academy, along with Teatro Kapampangan, headed by Dr. Santiago, and ArtiSta. Rita Theater Group has been preparing the musical since June 2017.
The show will run for two hours and will highlight 30 original songs which are a collaboration of a lot of people, including Alviz himself, the director and scriptwriter, and Jay Cabella.
The organizers are looking forward to bringing the musical to Mabalacat and other parts of the country.
Alviz added there are a lot of surprises waiting for the watchers, such as the trivia on having Don Bosco advised then Vatican’s Pope not to leave the city during the war, which resulted in the sovereignty of the Vatican City.
“You really have to watch the show. There are so many things that you’ll be surprised that Don Bosco is a part of – all the things he made, all the things he did, how he made it to the rank of social and political personalities in Europe.
The musical will take place at the Laus Group Event Center on August 18, 2018 and will be open to everyone on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The show will be held at 2pm for the Matinee and 7pm for the Gala. The ticket prices for the Matinee are P1,000 and P500, while the prices for the gala are P2,000, P1,500 and P1,000.
