DOTr chief Dizon meets PCG leaders

MANILA—Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon met with Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan at the PCG National Headquarters in Port Area, Manila, on March 5, 2025.

During the meeting, the PCG presented its priority projects, including the acquisition of additional vessels, port enhancement initiatives, satellite data communication installations at shore stations, delivery of shore generator sets, and the construction of the PCG General Hospital. Other key programs include the development of the Coast Guard Weapon System with an Ammo Dump, procurement of a Remote-Controlled Weapon System, and the implementation of the Navigational Telex (Navtex) system.

Dizon commended the PCG for its commitment to excellence, particularly in its service to the nation during the pandemic.

“The PCG is confident that under your direction, we will witness another significant advancement in maritime infrastructure, safety regulations, and overall efficiency as we remain dedicated to protecting our nation’s maritime interests and serving the Filipino people with honor, dedication, and excellence,” Admiral Gavan said.

The meeting was also attended by DOTr Chief of Staff Allan Yap, Assistant Secretary for Maritime Ventura Plan, Undersecretary for Administration, Finance, and Procurement Giovani Lopez, Philippine Ports Authority General Manager Atty. Jay Daniel Santiago, and senior PCG officers.
