Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Jaime J. Bautista emphasized the importance of the 59th Conference of the Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), currently taking place in the Philippines, as a vital forum for addressing carbon emissions in aviation and promoting the growth of the country’s aviation sector.

“Safety will be a major topic of discussion. Regarding sustainability, we will explore practices that contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, including best practices within the industry. Another area of focus will be capacity building—how to enhance the capabilities of Directors General, as continuous development is essential,” Sec. Bautista stated.

In alignment with global sustainability initiatives, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo proudly announced that nearly 15,000 trees have been planted nationwide. This initiative supports the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Long-Term Aspirational Goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
