Guagua, Pampanga — As part of its commitment to improving healthcare access for Kapampangans, the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital (DPMMH), through the support of the Provincial Government of Pampanga, inaugurated and blessed its newly renovated two-storey building on Friday, May 23.

The structure, which once served as a dedicated facility for COVID-19 patients at the height of the pandemic, has been transformed into a fully air-conditioned, multi-functional health facility designed to cater to both pediatric and adult patients.

The first floor features a nurse station, Room 1, and specialized wards for pediatric infectious, respiratory, and gastro cases, as well as a combined Dengue/Gastro ward. Upstairs, the second floor houses additional nurse stations and wards for female general patients, female and male respiratory cases, and a Dengue Ward. An Isolation Room, essential for handling contagious diseases, is also situated on this level, along with Rooms 2 to 8 that expand the hospital’s capacity to accommodate more patients. The newly upgraded facility now boasts a 102-bed capacity.

Dr. Fleur Zapanta, chief of hospital, expressed gratitude for the provincial government’s investment in public health.
“This building was initiated during the term of Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, and the renovation was completed under the leadership of Governor Dennis Pineda. Through their partnership, this was made possible,” she said.

She stressed that the renovation is only part of a broader effort to raise the standard of public healthcare. “On top of the upgraded infrastructure, dapat maganda rin ang serbisyo,” she said, assuring the public that the hospital is now keeping pace with the standards of private healthcare providers. —Jasmine Jaso/GO
