BALANGA CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P10.86-million, one-storey multipurpose facility in Orion, Bataan, providing a venue for community activities and gatherings.
The 342-square meter structure, located at 1Bataan Village in Barangay Daan Pare, offers a much-needed space for various events, enhancing social interaction and community engagement among residents of the housing community.
DPWH Bataan 2nd OIC-District Engineer Roland Rainier Victorino said the facility can accommodate over 6,600 families, including fire victims from the 2019 Barangay Capunitan incident and other informal settlers.
“Residents previously had to travel elsewhere to conduct or attend community activities due to the absence of facilities in their area. This project addresses that concern by providing a convenient venue within the community,” he said.
Victorino added that the facility can also host religious services, making it a versatile space for various community needs.
The project, funded under the 2024 national budget, includes comfort rooms, lighting fixtures, and adequate ventilation to ensure a functional and accessible venue for residents. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
