CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) built five new buildings for senior citizens in Nueva Ecija.
Constructed in the total amount of PhP14.547 million under the 2019 General Appropriations Act, the senior citizen buildings can now be used by the elders in barangay Cruz, Bongabon; barangay Pag-asa, Talavera; barangay Mambangnan, San Leonardo; and barangays Mabini Extension and Caalibangbangan in Cabanatuan City.
“The senior citizen buildings implemented by Nueva Ecija First and Second District Engineering Offices have PWD ramps, spacious auditorium and comfort rooms,” DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said.
“These new centers will definitely benefit the whole community as it can now serve as venue for various recreational, educational and social programs of our senior citizens,” Villar added.
Pursuant to Section 4 of Republic Act 7876, all cities and municipalities in the country are required to establish a senior citizens center with an area of 500 square meters.
