BALANGA CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the extension of the Bagac-Mariveles Bypass Road in Bataan, providing faster and easier access to the barangays it traverses.

DPWH Bataan 3rd District Engineer Maribel Navarro stated that the 6.7-meter wide alternate route connects Barangays Balon Anito, Ipag, and Camaya in Mariveles, along with other neighboring villages in Bagac.

“Now 1.5 kilometers longer, this project and the continuous road infrastructure development around these areas shall spur tourism and local economic progress,” she added.

The project includes reflective thermoplastic pavement markings to ensure better visibility.

Moreover, the agency installed a 500-meter slope protection structure with a drainage canal and concrete wheel guards along the right side of the road to improve drainage.

Funded through the 2023 General Appropriations Act, the DPWH completed the project at a cost of P48.435 million. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
