CABANATUAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a two-story multipurpose facility for Barangay Rizal in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

The 86.7-square-meter structure, built beside the barangay hall and gymnasium, addresses the barangay’s need for additional office space, improved services, and streamlined operations.

DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan said the facility, with dedicated spaces for various programs, improves accessibility and efficiency in local services.

Meanwhile, OIC-Assistant District Engineer Leonora Cruz explained that the new community hall has two lounge areas, two comfort rooms, a balcony, a ramp for persons with disabilities, a fire exit, and three office rooms, providing dedicated spaces for public assistance programs.

“This facility serves as a hub for social programs, with designated spaces for the [Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program], a daycare center, the [Violence Against Women and Children] office, the senior citizens’ office, and the [Sangguniang Kabataan] office,” Cruz emphasized.

Barangay Secretary Rowena Villarta said they previously shared space with the daycare classroom at the old barangay hall.

However, with the new facility, they can now provide more organized and accessible services to the community.

The P4.7-million project was funded under the DPWH’s Basic Infrastructure Program through the 2024 national budget. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
